Roberto Viganò

Dr. Roberto Viganò is an orthopedic surgeon at Casa di Cura La Madonnina. After graduating in Medicine and Surgery in 1980 from the University of Milan, he specialized in Orthopedics in 1985.

His professional journey began at the Istituto Gaetano Pini, where he initially worked as an Assistant in Orthopedics and Traumatology until 1994. He then became an Associate in Orthopedics and Traumatology, and from 2001 to 2019, he served as Director of the Complex Structure (C.A.R. - Rheumatoid Arthritis Surgery).

Regarding his academic career, over the years, Dr. Viganò has been a Contract Professor at the Specialization Schools in Orthopedics, Physical Medicine, and Rheumatology at the University of Milan.

He served as the doctor for the Italian Rugby Federation from 1987 to 1990. In 2001, he was a Visiting Professor at Yale Medical School, Yale New Haven Hospital, Connecticut, USA.

In 2005, he attended the Master in Health Management for the Public Hospital Unit Chief, Region of Lombardy. In 2012 and 2014, he chaired the Lower Limb Surgery Instructional Course for ERASS (European Rheumatoid Arthritis Surgical Society).

From 2013 to 2019, he also taught in various master's programs in Knee Arthroscopy, Pain Management, and Foot Surgery organized by prominent Italian universities such as the University of Campobasso, University of Parma, and University of Naples.

A member of the Italian Society of Orthopedics and Traumatology (SIOT) and an international member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS), Dr. Viganò is also a reviewer for the journal of the same Scientific Society: *The Journal of Arthroplasty*.

Professionally, he has extensive experience in the surgical treatment of patients with inflammatory rheumatic diseases, both in youth and adulthood, with a particular focus on:

• Prosthetic surgery of the elbow, hip, knee, and ankle
• Arthroscopic surgery of the knee and tibio-tarsal joint
• Foot surgery
• Hand surgery (in patients with rheumatic conditions)
