Biography

Dr. Roberto Mele is a nutritionist and the Coordinator of the Nutrition Biology area at IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele.

He obtained a degree in Medical Biotechnology from the University of Milan in 2004 and further specialized in Medical Biotechnology and Molecular Medicine at the same university in 2006. In 2008, he earned a Level II Master's degree in Healthcare Management from SDA Bocconi, focusing on hospital organization, clinical governance, and the coordination of multidisciplinary teams since 2007.

Dr. Mele's work includes managing undernutrition and overnutrition in both physiological and pathological conditions, addressing obesity and oncology nutrition, and assessing the risk of malnutrition in cardiac and neuromotor rehabilitation. He serves as the institute's representative for the Alliance Against Cancer (ACC) nutrition committee.

In terms of research, Dr. Mele concentrates on the field of oncological nutrition in both medical and surgical contexts. He is a regular participant in national and international conferences in his field and is dedicated to training young nutritionists in collaboration with various Italian universities.

He is also an adjunct professor for the course "Nutritional Status in the Internal Medicine Patient" at Vita-Salute San Raffaele University.
