Biography

Dr. Renato Valeri is the Head of the Ophthalmology Unit at Istituto Clinico San Rocco in Brescia.

After graduating in Medicine and Surgery, he specialized in Ophthalmology at the University of Brescia in 1993. During the 1991-1992 academic year, he moved to Paris to study at the Institut du Glaucoma de la Fondation Hôpital Saint Joseph, where he focused on glaucoma pathology, angiography, and laser treatments.

His clinical work primarily revolves around Refractive Surgery with excimer laser and the treatment of the anterior segment of the eye. His extensive experience is evidenced by the 5,000 cataract surgeries he has performed, mainly using phacoemulsification, and 1,500 refractive surgeries via photorefractive keratectomy (PRK).

Dr. Valeri regularly conducts eye examinations, laser treatments, fluorangiographies, corneal topographies, computerized visual fields, ecobiometries (A and B scan), corneal pachymetries, endothelial measurements with specular microscopy, and tonometric curves. He also assists as a second operator in cataract surgeries, glaucoma procedures, keratoplasties, PRK, and LASIK.

He has participated as a co-investigator in several research groups associated with the Study Lens (1995-1997) and contributed to the creation of the monographs "Topografia Corneale," published in 1995, and "Corneal Topography: The Clinical Atlas," released the following year. Dr. Valeri is a member of the Italian Ophthalmological Society, the French Ophthalmological Society, and the Italian Association of Ophthalmologist Physicians (APIMO).
