Raffaele Borghi
Biography
Dr. Borghi is an Orthopedic Surgeon at the Orthopedics III Unit at Villa Erbosa Clinic in Bologna, directed by Prof. Gennaro Pipino. He has been the official orthopedic physician for the sports team "Bologna Rugby" since 2018.
He graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Bologna with a thesis on knee prosthetic surgery, achieving a grade of 110 cum laude.
He specialized in Orthopedics and Traumatology at the Rizzoli Orthopedic Institute in Bologna with a grade of 110 cum laude.
Dr. Borghi served at the Rizzoli Orthopedic Institute in Bologna for 8 years and undertook a study period at the prestigious New York University.
He has organized humanitarian orthopedic missions in Africa, collaborating with Orthopaedics Onlus and performing corrective surgeries for lower limb deformities at the Kituo Mlali Children Center in Tanzania.
He is the author of over 30 scientific publications in high-level international journals and has presented more than 100 papers at national and international conferences of leading orthopedic societies (AAOS, ESKA, EKA, SIOT, etc.).
He is a member of the leading European knee surgery society: EKA (European Knee Association).
Dr. Borghi has previously taught Orthopedics in Switzerland at the LU.de.S. University Campus in Lugano, and has also taught at the University of Bologna's courses in Physiotherapy, Podiatry, and Orthopedic Technology, as well as at the Osteopathy School in Bologna.
Since 2019, he has been the Orthopedics representative and lecturer for the "Biomedical Project" of the Ministry of Health in Bologna.
Dr. Borghi has developed significant expertise and experience in the following areas of surgery:
- Knee and hip prostheses
- Arthroscopic knee surgery for meniscal, cartilage, and anterior cruciate ligament treatments
- Stem cell treatments for cartilage pathologies
- Minimally invasive surgery for the correction of hallux valgus, Morton’s neuroma, carpal tunnel syndrome
He has extensive experience in treating athletes and uses the latest techniques for both surgical and non-surgical management of tendinitis and muscle pain throughout the body, including conditions such as epicondylitis, plantar fasciitis, cervicalgia, low back pain, lumbosciatica, general muscle pain, and all sports-related injuries.
