Biography

Dr. Paolo Antonio Boccasanta is a colorectal surgeon at the Functional Unit of Proctology and Pelvic Floor Disorders at Istituto Clinico Villa Aprica.

In 1977, he graduated with honors in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Milan, where he later specialized in General Surgery in 1982. In 1987, he also completed a specialization in Vascular Surgery and Angiology at the same university. In 1994, he earned with honors the specialization diploma in Thoracic Surgery.

Work experience includes:

  • July 2013 to June 2014: Consultant Coloproctologist in the General Surgery Unit at Clinica I Cedri – Fara Novarese (NO).
  • September 2012 to July 2013 and from December 2015: Consultant Coloproctologist and Senior Associate Surgeon in the General and Emergency Surgery Unit at Istituto Clinico Città Studi, Milan.
  • From January 2016: Senior Consultant in the Proctology and Pelviperineology Unit at Humanitas Gavazzeni, Bergamo.
  • 2015–2017: Senior Consultant Coloproctologist in the same unit at Humanitas Gavazzeni.
  • 2017–2020: Senior Consultant Coloproctologist at Humanitas Castelli, Bergamo.
  • 2021: Senior Consultant Coloproctologist at the Proctology and Pelvic Floor Unit at IRCCS Policlinico San Donato.

Since 2000, Dr. Boccasanta has been certified in Coloproctology by the European Board of Surgical Qualification in Brighton (UK).

In 2014, he was a lecturer at the National SIC Reference School in Proctology and Pelvic Floor Disorders.

From 2016 to 2018, he served as Vice President of the Italian Society of Coloproctology (SIUCP).

He specializes in general, proctologic, and abdominal surgery. His expertise in coloproctology significantly advanced through training at centers of excellence in France and Austria.

Currently, Dr. Boccasanta serves as a senior consultant in coloproctology, working daily in the ward assisting patients post-surgery and regularly attending the operating room. He also carries out outpatient consultations.
