Paola Bettini
Biography
Dr. Paola Bettini is the Head of the Neurological Rehabilitation Unit at the Istituto Clinico Città di Brescia.
She earned her degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Brescia in 1997, followed by her medical license and registration with the Medical Association in 1998. In 2003, she specialized in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Pavia. In 2019, she completed a first-level master's degree in Severe Acquired Brain Injury (GCA) with an interdisciplinary rehabilitation project at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia.
Dr. Bettini began her clinical career in February 1998, working in rehabilitation after spending three years in the Clinical Immunology Department at the Spedali Civili di Brescia. During her specialization in Pavia, she trained in Neurosurgery, Clinical Neuropsychology, and Intensive Care at the Spedali Civili, gaining extensive knowledge of neurological issues in rehabilitation patients.
Since her specialization, she has focused on treating patients with severe acquired brain injuries in the Neurological Rehabilitation Unit at the Istituto Clinico Città di Brescia.
She has extensive experience managing complex patients, including those on invasive mechanical ventilation. Her work includes comprehensive care, from addressing internal medical issues, nutritional assessments, and tailored feeding plans to managing severe complications like sepsis. She also develops Individual Rehabilitation Plans in an interdisciplinary team and ensures safe discharge with necessary assistive devices, maintaining continuity of care.
