Marco Vittorio Resta
Biography
Dr. Marco Vittorio Resta is the Head of the Multispecialty Anesthesia and General Intensive Care Unit at the IRCCS Policlinico San Donato in Milan.
He graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Milan in 1998 and obtained a specialization with honors in Anesthesia, Resuscitation, and Pain Therapy in 2003.
From 2001 to 2004, he worked in the Critical Patient Department - General Resuscitation at the National Cancer Institute in Milan. In 2004, he began collaborating with the San Donato Hospital Group as an anesthesiologist and resuscitator, working at various hospitals: the Istituto Clinico Sant’Ambrogio (2004-2006), Policlinico San Pietro (2006-2017), and Policlinico San Donato (from 2009 to the present).
With over 15 years of experience in general intensive care, Dr. Resta has developed expertise in the following areas:
- Management of critically ill patients undergoing extracorporeal purification procedures
- Use of ultrasound in vascular access management
- Management of critical patients admitted to emergency departments
- Management of difficult airways
- Treatment of patients with respiratory failure
- Care of patients in septic shock
He has also worked in operating rooms as an anesthesiology consultant for major abdominal and thoracic surgeries, vascular surgery, urology, obstetrics and gynecology, orthopedics, and bariatric surgery.
Dr. Resta is registered as a forensic expert for the Court of Milan. Since 2018, he has been a contract professor for the Nursing Sciences degree program.
He has published seven articles in indexed journals and contributed chapters to several specialist books. Additionally, he has presented posters and oral presentations at approximately 20 national and international conferences.
