Luca Ferraris
Biography
Dr. Luca Ferraris is the Head of the Digestive Endoscopy Service at the Istituto Clinico Villa Aprica.
He graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Pavia in 1988, where he also specialized in Gastroenterology and Digestive Endoscopy in 1993. In 2001, he completed a specialization in Internal Medicine at the University of Insubria (VA).
From 2008 to 2024, he served as Director of the Gastroenterology and Digestive Endoscopy Department at ASST Valle Olona, formerly S. Antonio Abate Hospital in Gallarate.
From 2021 to 2023, Dr. Ferraris was president of the Lombardy section of the Italian Association of Hospital Gastroenterologists.
Dr. Ferraris has extensive experience in digestive endoscopy and techniques such as polypectomy, mucosectomy, endoscopic hemostasis, the use of endoclips, argon plasma, bipolar electrocoagulation, PEG placement, variceal ligation and sclerosis, and esophageal and enteral stent placement, with a particular focus on biliary endoscopic surgery, performing over 120 ERCPs per year.
He has a strong clinical interest in chronic inflammatory bowel diseases, irritable bowel syndrome, celiac disease, and gastroesophageal reflux disease.
