Giovanni Galvani
Biography
Dr. Giovanni Galvani is a surgeon at the Vascular Surgery Clinic at the Istituto Clinico San Rocco and at the Vascular Surgery Unit at the Istituto Clinico S. Anna in Brescia. He is also a Level I Medical Director in the emergency department of the Istituto Clinico Città di Brescia.
He graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Milan in 1981. In 1986, he completed his specialization in General Surgery at the University of Sassari and, in 1992, he obtained another specialization in Vascular Surgery at the University of Milan.
After graduation, he served as a full-time hospital assistant from 1986 to 1992 at the Surgical Clinic of the University of Brescia, and from 1992 to 2001, he was a full-time senior assistant.
From 2001 to 2005, he was the head of the Vascular Surgery Unit at the Istituto Clinico San Rocco.
From 2005 to 2011, he was responsible for the General Surgery Unit III at the Istituto Clinico Città di Brescia.
Since 2011, he has been a Level I Medical Director at the Vascular Surgery Unit of the Istituto Clinico S. Anna.
Throughout his career, Dr. Galvani has performed general and vascular surgeries, initially as an assistant and later as the primary surgeon for oncological, thyroid, and pulmonary surgeries.
He is an expert in digestive system surgery and has performed intra-abdominal procedures on the liver, pancreas, spleen, adrenal glands, and retroperitoneum.
In the field of vascular surgery, he has performed procedures on the carotid arteries, aorta (aneurysms, Leriche syndrome), as well as bypasses and thromboendarterectomies.
Currently, as a vascular surgeon, he performs both endovascular and open procedures on carotid arteries, aneurysms, and peripheral pathologies.
During his academic career, he has conducted lectures and exercises and has published approximately 100 works on topics related to surgical practice.
