Biography

Dr. Giovanni Frigerio is the Head of the Pain Therapy Center at Istituto Clinico Villa Aprica.

He graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Pavia in 1977 and specialized in Anesthesia and Intensive Care at the University of Milan in 1980.

His most notable work experiences include:

  • From 1979 to 1984, he served as an assistant in the Anesthesia and Intensive Care service at Istituto Clinico Villa Aprica.
  • From 1984 to 1988, he was an attending physician in the same service.
  • From 1988 to 2010, he was the Head of the Anesthesia and Intensive Care service at the same institution.
  • Since 2010, he has been the Head of the Pain Therapy Center.

Dr. Frigerio has extensive experience in spinal and subcutaneous neurostimulation, having performed over 1,000 cases, as well as approximately 5,000 minimally invasive pain surgery procedures using radiofrequency techniques and other methods.

His main areas of interest include:

  • Anesthesia and Intensive Care
  • Pain therapy (percutaneous pain surgery with spinal stimulator implants and other minimally invasive methods)
  • Regional anesthesia

Since 1980, Dr. Frigerio has participated in nearly all SIAARTI (Italian Society of Anesthesia, Analgesia, Resuscitation, and Intensive Care) national congresses and, since 2007, in national and international congresses and events related to pain therapy. He has completed various training stages since 2010 at the Presbyterian St. Luke's Medical Center in Denver, led by Dr. Giancarlo Barolat.

He served as the President of the International Neuromodulation Society (INS) from 2020 to 2022 and has been a speaker and moderator at several INS and SIAARTI congresses on pain therapy.
