Biography

Dr. Giorgio Toderini is the head of the Ophthalmology Unit at Villa Chiara and collaborates with Villa Erbosa.

He graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Bologna in 1985 and specialized in Ophthalmology at the University of Ferrara in 1991.

From 1984 to 1999, he worked in the Ophthalmology department of Ospedale Maggiore in Bologna, winning several scholarships as a voluntary assistant and publishing articles in national and international journals. During this time, he managed the medical retina outpatient clinic (including fluorescein angiographies and laser therapies) and performed surgeries on both the anterior and posterior segments of the eye.

Dr. Toderini has served as the Head of Ophthalmology at OPA Nigrisoli and has worked at the hospitals of Bentivoglio, Budrio, and San Giovanni in Persiceto (Bologna) as a co-responsible for the Ocular Surgery Service. He has also been responsible for the ophthalmology service at the Accredited Private Hospitals Nigrisoli and Villa Regina in Bologna.

He is experienced in both surgical and outpatient settings, focusing on conditions affecting the anterior and posterior segments of the eye, including cataracts and glaucoma, as well as medical and surgical retina.

A member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, he received the International Ophthalmologist Education Award in 2008 from the AAO. He is also a member of the European Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgery (ESCRS) and the European Society of Retina Specialists.

Dr. Toderini actively participates in national and international ophthalmology conferences.
