Biography

Dr. Gianguido Montagnolo is a surgeon and sonographer at Casa di Cura La Madonnina.

After graduating in 1980 from the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Milan, in 1985 the doctor specialized in emergency surgery and first aid at the school of Professor V. Staudacher, and in 1988 - on experimental surgery and organ transplantation at the school of Prof. D. Galmarini.

Upon completion of his studies in 2014, he receives a Master's degree of level II in advanced laparoscopic surgery at the University of Turin.

In 1987, the doctor was hired at the Department of Emergency Surgery of the IRCCS Ca' Granda Ospedale Maggiore Policlinico in Milan as an assistant, and since 1992 - as an assistant to the chief surgeon, head of the 1st level.

Since 2014, he has been transferred to the Structural Unit of General Surgery (Head Professor L.Boni) of the Foundation of the IRCCS Ca' Granda Ospedale Maggiore Policlinico in Milan, where he is the head of the single surgical department of Interventional ultrasound. Since the 1980s he has also collaborated with Casa di Cura La Madonnina.

In addition to surgical activities, Dr. Montagnolo has been engaged in ultrasound diagnostics and, in particular, interventional ultrasound since 1981. Among the various procedures he performs:

  • aspiration biopsies,
  • drains,
  • diagnostic punctures,
  • paracentesis, thoracentesis.

In the field of surgery, he performed urgent and planned interventions, both small and large abdominal operations, mainly by laparoscopic method.

Author of about 150 scientific papers in the field of surgery/ultrasound, he has also written several chapters on ultrasound in various book publications.
