Biography

Dr. Franco Baldo is the Head of the CROM Unit, Reconstructive Surgery and Minimally Invasive Orthopedics, at the IRCCS Ospedale Galeazzi - Sant'Ambrogio. He also collaborates with Palazzo della Salute.

He graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Pavia in 1993 and specialized in Orthopedics and Traumatology at the University of Insubria, Varese, in 1998.

Dr. Baldo worked as a hand surgeon at the Circolo Hospital in Varese. In 2009, he became the Director of the Complex Structure at S. Andrea Hospital in Vercelli and then, in 2015, he was appointed Chief of Orthopedics and Traumatology at the Mater Domini Clinic in Castellanza, Varese.

Dr. Baldo specializes in hip and knee prosthetics. He is one of the leading experts in the anterior approach to the hip, a minimally invasive technique that avoids muscle dissection. He is also one of the foremost tutors for teaching this technique.

In the field of knee surgery, he uses the latest prosthetic implantation techniques, including robotics, augmented reality, MyKnee, a patient-specific and customized instrumentation, and kinematic alignment.

He regularly participates in national and international congresses in his field.
