Francesco Bandello
Biography
Prof. Francesco Bandello is the Head of the Ophthalmology Unit of IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele in Milan. He also holds numerous positions at the University Vita-Salute San Raffaele in Milan, including President of the Degree Course in Medicine and Surgery, Professor of Ophthalmology, Director of the Specialization School of Ophthalmology and Director of the Ophthalmology Clinic.
He is the winner of numerous awards, including the "Gabriel Coscas Medal" for outstanding contributions in the field of retinal diseases in 2011 and "SOI Scientific Research Project Award 2017" for the project "Role of Monocyte Patrolling in Diabetic Macular Edema"; he is Principal Investigator in several multicenter studies in the field of retinal and choroidal diseases.
He is an author of 560 scientific publications and 11 monographs, Chief Editor of scientific journals, such as European Journal of Ophthalmology and Developments in Ophthalmology, and member of Editorial Board of more than 10 international periodicals.
He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the ESASO Foundation (European School for Advanced Studies in Ophthalmology), President of the Academia Ophthalmologica Europea, and an expert reviewer for the National Institute of Health (NIH) of the United States of America for research projects in the field of retina.
