Fabrizio Pisano
Biography
Dr. Fabrizio Pisano is the Head of the Neurological Rehabilitation Unit and the VAMP (Multispecialistic Assessment and Assistance for Parkinson’s Disease) Center at Policlinico San Marco in Zingonia.
He completed his medical education at the University of Milan, graduating in Medicine and Surgery in 1981 and specializing in Neurology five years later. He further obtained a Master’s in Multidisciplinary Diagnostics of Neuromuscular Diseases from the University of Messina and in Brachial Plexus Injuries from the University of Milan.
In the field of neurophysiology, Dr. Pisano has gained significant experience in performing electromyographic exams, magnetic stimulation, and evoked potentials.
In neuro-rehabilitation, he has focused on the treatment of spasticity with botulinum toxin and the application of advanced technologies such as Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES), transcranial electrical stimulation (tDCS), and robotic devices for the recovery of the paretic upper limb following a stroke.
He is very active in organizing training events on rehabilitative topics such as Stroke, Parkinson's Disease, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), and neurophysiological instrumental diagnostics. He participates as a speaker at training courses and conferences on Neurophysiology and Neurorehabilitation both in Italy and abroad. Dr. Pisano has coordinated scientific projects at the National Institute of Health and has served as the Clinical Manager for projects funded by the European Community on robotic neurorehabilitation.
He coordinated the first home tele-rehabilitation project for Parkinson's Disease within the Italian Network of Scientific Institutes for Hospitalization and Care.
He is the author of 80 scientific publications in national and international journals (H-Index Scopus 22, with 2,070 citations). He is a member of the Italian Spasticity Study Group and the Italian Consortium for ALS Genetics (ITALSGEN Consortium).
