Elisabetta Forapani
Biography
Dr. Elisabetta Forapani is a neurologist at the Neurology Unit of IRCCS Policlinico San Donato.
She earned her degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Milano-Bicocca in 2003, followed by a specialization in Neurology in 2008, which she completed at both the University of Milano-Bicocca and the "C. Besta" Neurological Institute.
In 2021, she further enhanced her professional expertise by obtaining a Second-Level Master’s Degree in Neurorehabilitation from the Universities of Pavia and Genoa.
Currently, Dr. Forapani works as a consulting neurologist with major private healthcare facilities in Milan, with a particular focus on Policlinico San Donato.
From the early stages of her career, Dr. Forapani has concentrated on neurodegenerative diseases. Initially, she focused on the clinical evaluation and research of dementias at San Gerardo Hospital in Monza.
She later specialized in the diagnostic and therapeutic management of movement disorders, particularly Parkinson's disease and dystonia, at the "C. Besta" Neurological Institute and Niguarda Hospital. She developed advanced skills in managing advanced therapies, including an international training period at CHU Troubles du Mouvement in Grenoble (FR), with a focus on deep brain stimulation.
Her hospital experience includes roles at various Lombard institutions such as Valduce Hospital in Como, Niguarda Hospital, and Desio Hospital. In these settings, in addition to managing acute and subacute neurological conditions, she continued her work on neurodegenerative diseases, running specialized clinics for dementias and movement disorders.
Dr. Forapani has also acquired specific expertise in managing stroke patients, serving as a dedicated neurologist in the Stroke Unit.
She has actively contributed to scientific research in neurology, participating in clinical neuropsychology studies focused on dementias and experimental studies in pre-marketing phases of major Parkinson's disease medications.
Additionally, she has conducted in-depth studies on the effects of deep brain stimulation across various neurological conditions.
