Biography

Dr. Cristina Maggioni is a gynecologist at Palazzo della Salute – Wellness Clinic.

She graduated in Medicine and Surgery in 1980 with top marks from the University of Milan, where she later specialized in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1984. Believing in the need to harmonize body and mind, Dr. Maggioni pursued both medical and psychological training from the beginning of her career. In 1982, she earned a degree in Clinical Psychology from the Université Paris VII in Paris. She achieved the title of Interne des Hôpitaux de Paris, focusing on fertility—specifically in vitro fertilization—and pregnancy, with particular attention to the prevention of preterm birth. After her specialization, she received a CNR NATO scholarship, allowing her to work in the United States in the chronobiology laboratory of Prof. Franz Halberg, a pioneer in modern chronobiology. In 1986, she also completed a Ph.D. in Social Psychology at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris.

Throughout her professional career, Dr. Maggioni has worked as a gynecologist in prestigious hospitals in Italy, such as Clinica Mangiagalli and Ospedale Buzzi, as well as in France.

For the past 20 years, she has focused on infertility, guiding couples outside the realm of in vitro fertilization. She also prepares women for childbirth using an integrated psycho-biological model and incorporates phytotherapy as part of her treatment approach. Additionally, she has served as a consultant for eating disorders, such as anorexia and bulimia, at the ABA Center in Milan.

Her areas of particular interest include fertility, menopause, endometriosis, high-risk pregnancies, anti-aging strategies, and the role of stress in women's health.

In parallel with her clinical work, Dr. Maggioni has been actively involved in research, particularly in the fields of immunology, reproductive endocrinology, obstetric-neonatal chronobiology, and psychosomatic gynecology.

Since the 1990s, she has also been involved in university teaching, both in Italy at the University of Milan and in France.

She is the author and co-author of several books, including "Il bambino inconcepibile" (Franco Angeli, Milan, 1998), "Il trattato di ginecologia psicosomatica" in collaboration with S. Mimoun Flammarion Paris (Franco Angeli, Milan, 2003), and "Il nodo della psicosomatica" (Franco Angeli, Milan).

From 2002 to 2008, she served as the Secretary-General of the Italian Society of Psychosomatics. She is currently a foreign correspondent for the Société Française de Gynécologie Psychosomatique, a member of the International Society of Chronobiology, and a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Psychosomatic Obstetrics and Gynecology.
