Claudio Ferrante
Biography
Dr. Claudio Ferrante is the Head of the Neurology Unit at Policlinico San Pietro in Bergamo and the Center for Multiple Sclerosis Care, which operates at the same hospital. He also serves as a Neurology lecturer at the Three-Year School of Music Therapy at the Istituto San Carlo in Milan.
He graduated in 1981 from the University of Milan, where he also completed his specialization in Neurology in 1986. Over the years, he has received numerous research grants from various national institutions: from the Municipality of Milan for a Research Program on Drug Addiction (1983-1985), from the University of Milan for continued research on Parkinson's Disease (1984-1985), and from the Maggiore Hospital for research on the Functional Transplantation of Catecholaminergic Cells in the Human Brain (1986-1988).
He began his career as a Medical Neurology Assistant at Desio Hospital, where he was involved in setting up the Electroencephalography Service for neurophysiological monitoring of patients undergoing carotid thromboendoarterectomy. At the same center, he later founded the Parkinson's Disease Diagnosis and Treatment Clinic (1988-1998).
Subsequently, he served as Deputy Head of the Neurology and Neurorehabilitation Division at S. Giuseppe Hospital of the Auxologico Italiano Institute, where he was also responsible for establishing a Neurology and Neurorehabilitation Department and creating Analytical Biochemistry and Cell Culture laboratories (1998-2000).
He has authored and co-authored over 30 publications in national and international journals. In 2007, he contributed to the development of a Digital Clinical Record System (EMPIDI) for innovative management of the Parkinson's Disease Clinic.
