Claudio Eduardo Pagano

Dr. Claudio Eduardo Pagano is a general surgeon and coloproctologist at the Proctological Surgery and Pelvic Floor Unit at the Istituto di Cura Città di Pavia.

He graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Milan in 1994. In 2000, he obtained his specialization in General Surgery at the University of Milan.

He has been a Medical Director since March 2000 at the S. Giuseppe Hospital in Milan and since December 2010 at ASST of Melegnano and Martesana.

He served as a contract professor at the University of Milan in the Medicine and Surgery degree course on Medical-Surgical Emergencies during the academic years 2005/2006 and 2006/2007, and at the Specialization School in General Surgery at the University of Milan during the academic years 2005/2006, 2006/2007, and 2007/2008.

From 2001 to 2010, he was a lecturer for the “National Course of Complementary Nursing Training in Stoma Therapy, Coloproctology, and Pelvic Floor Dysfunction” A.I.O.S.S. (Italian Association of Health Operators in Stoma Therapy).

Dr. Pagano is a General Surgeon with a strong emphasis on advanced minimally invasive procedures. He has performed over 5,000 surgeries as the primary operator over nearly thirty years and has developed skills in numerous advanced surgical techniques, including:

• Laparoscopic: liver, pancreas, gallbladder, bile duct, upper GI, lower GI, abdominal wall defects, bariatric surgery.
• Thoracoscopic: major lung resections and mediastinal mass excisions.
• Coloproctology: Mucopexy Recto Anal Lifting (MuRAL), transanal hemorrhoidal dearterialization (THD, HAL Doppler, Trilogy), stapler prolapse surgery (Longo, STARR, TranSTARR), laser treatment of anal fistulas and sacrococcygeal cysts (FiLaC & SiLaC), sacral pacemaker implants.

He is the author of the MuRAL (Mucopexy Recto Anal Lifting) method for the non-excisional minimally invasive treatment of hemorrhoidal disease.

He has been responsible for 38 international training sessions both on-site and off-site (Europe, Americas, Middle East) from 2009 to 2013 for the THD (Transanal Hemorrhoidal Dearterialization) technique.

He has also led 12 international training sessions both on-site and off-site (Europe, Americas, Middle East, East) from 2016 to 2019 for the MuRAL (Mucopexy Recto Anal Lifting) technique.
