Carla Beggino
Biography
Dr. Carla Beggino is a cardiothoracic surgeon at the Cardiac Surgery Unit of Istituto Clinico San Rocco in Ome.
She graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Eastern Piedmont "Amedeo Avogadro" in 2011 and completed her specialization in Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of Pavia in 2018.
Dr. Beggino obtained the BLS-D (Basic Life Support and Defibrillation) certification.
During her studies, she worked as an internal student in the Thoracic Surgery Department at Azienda Ospedaliero-Universitaria Maggiore della Carità in Novara in 2009.
Her subsequent training included:
- 2010-2011: Conducted research at the Department of Physiology and Experimental Surgery at the University of Eastern Piedmont for her thesis.
- 2011-2012: Worked as a medical resident in the SCDO Cardiac Surgery Department at Azienda Ospedaliero-Universitaria Maggiore della Carità in Novara and as a blood donor physician at Avis in Borgosesia.
- 2012: Passed the state examination for medical licensing.
- 2012-2016: Completed her cardiothoracic surgery residency at Policlinico San Matteo in Pavia.
- 2016-2018: Continued her residency at the Cardiovascular Surgery Department of Villa Maria Cecilia Clinic in Cotignola.
Since 2018, she has been working as a cardiothoracic surgeon at Istituto Clinico San Rocco, where she performs duties in the ward, operating room, and intensive care unit (ICU) post-cardiac surgery. She also has experience in intensive and sub-intensive care as an intensivist, managing pharmacological treatments and cardiorespiratory mechanical support for cardiac surgery patients.
Dr. Beggino has been involved in various research activities, including studies on quality of life in heart transplant patients, echocardiographic assessment of the right ventricle in patients awaiting heart transplantation, and follow-up of patients undergoing aortic valve replacement via mini-thoracotomy.
