Biography
Dr. Angelo Canevari is the Head of the General Medicine Clinic at the Istituto di Cura Città di Pavia.
He graduated in 1968 from the University of Pavia, where he later specialized in Clinical and Laboratory Hematology in 1971, achieving a grade of 110/110 with honors, and then in Internal Medicine in 1978, also with the highest marks.
From 1991 to 2002, Dr. Canevari was a contract professor at the Hematology Specialization School of the University of Pavia. He also taught Hematology and Immunology at the Salaroli Nursing School of the Policlinico San Matteo in Pavia, and later at the Nursing Science degree course, from 1988 to 2002.
In 1971, he worked as a full-time medical assistant in the General Medicine Division of the Civil Hospital S. Anna in Como. From 1972 to 1981, he was a full-time assistant in the Hematology Division of the Policlinico San Matteo in Pavia, and from 1981 to 1992, he served as a hospital aide in the same division.
Dr. Canevari was appointed Chief of Immunohematology at the Civil Hospital of Alessandria from July 1, 1992, to June 30, 1993, and then served as Medical Director with primary assistant functions (senior aide) from July 1, 1993, to December 31, 2002.
Since 2004, he has been the Head of the Internal Medicine Clinic at the Istituto di Cura Città di Pavia.
Dr. Canevari has authored 131 hematological publications in national and international scientific journals, including works like "PTT, analysis of recurrences in the Italian Group case study, Soc. Ital. Hemostasis and Thrombosis, 1992," "Visceral localizations in Hodgkin's Disease, Progress in Hematology, 1985," and "Brusamolino E, Canevari A, Hematologica, 74, 173-9,1989." He has also presented 280 abstracts at various national and international conferences.
For several years, he has focused his professional and scientific interest on platelet and coagulation disorders, addressing both hemorrhagic and thrombotic issues. He specializes in rare hematological diseases, iron metabolism, anemias, and autoimmune disorders. In his clinical practice, he manages a significant number of cases related to monoclonal serum gammopathies, hemochromatosis, iron deficiency anemia, and multi-deficiency anemias.
Dr. Canevari oversees outpatient management of iron supplementation therapy for iron-deficiency anemia and performs therapeutic phlebotomy for conditions such as hemochromatosis and polycythemia vera.
