Andrea Giuseppe Lovece

Biography

Dr Andrea Giuseppe Lovece is a Senior Medical Officer (First Level) in the Department of the University General Surgery and the Center for Esophageal Diseases at the Policlinico San Donato Clinical Research Institute in Milan. In addition, he collaborates with the Casa di Cura La Madonnina Clinic.

He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Milan in 2014 and specialized in general surgery at the same university in 2020.

After graduation, he continued his training at the School of Specialization in General Surgery at the Clinical Research Institute Policlinico San Donato, in the Department of University General Surgery of the esophagogastric profile, at the Clinical Institute Policlinico di Milano (Department of General and Emergency Surgery), at the Hospital Ospedale San Leopoldo Mandic in Merat (Department of General Surgery) and at the Hospital Ospedale Papa Giovanni XXIII in Bergamo (Department of General Surgery and Trauma Treatment Unit).

In addition, he completed a six-month surgical internship at Karolinska University in Stockholm, in the Department of Cancer Surgery of the liver, pancreas, esophagus and stomach, under the direction of Dr. Sparrelid and Professor Nilsson.

From a clinical perspective, Dr. Lovece specializes in Esophageal-Gastric Surgery, both functional and oncological (functional disorders of the esophagus, diverticula, gastroesophageal reflux disease), covering diagnosis, intervention, and follow-up stages. He also performs endoscopic procedures, both diagnostic and operative, with over 1,000 procedures completed.

Regarding research, his work mainly focuses on General Surgery with an emphasis on esophageal-gastric issues and Emergency Surgery, participating in international multicentric studies.

He has about 50 publications in major journals, with a current H-index of 11 (source: Scopus).
