Andrea Giovanni Spreafico

Dr. Andrea Spreafico is an assistant specialist in the Proctology and Pelviperineology Unit at Policlinico San Pietro.  

In 2002, he graduated with top marks in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Milano-Bicocca. He completed his specialization in General Surgery with honors at the University of Milan in 2008.  

Throughout his career, Dr. Spreafico has specialized in the diagnosis and treatment of proctological and pelvic floor disorders associated with evacuation issues, using advanced and minimally invasive techniques such as:

• S.T.A.R.R. (Stapled TransAnal Rectal Resection) for recto-anal and muco-hemorrhoidal prolapse.
• P.O.P.S. (Pelvic Organs Prolapse Suspension) using a laparoscopic approach for pelvic organ prolapse (rectal, uterine-vaginal, and bladder).
• R.V.L. (Robotic Ventral Rectopexy) for complex pelvic prolapse (enterocele, rectocele, descending perineum, colpocele, and cystocele).
• T.P.S. (Transverse Perineal Support) for descending perineum and related disorders.
• Hemorrhoidopexy and Hemorrhoidectomy** for hemorrhoidal disease.
• V.A.A.F.T. (Video-Assisted Anal Fistula Treatment) for simple and complex anal fistulas.
• E.P.Si.T. (Endoscopic Pilonidal Sinus Treatment) for minimally invasive treatment of sacrococcygeal cysts and fistulas.

Treatment of sexually transmitted disease (STD) lesions, including papillomas and condylomas, along with their follow-up.  

Dr. Spreafico’s surgical experience includes:

• 3,500 colorectal procedures.
• 1,200 surgeries for abdominal wall defects.
• 650 general surgeries (medium and minor) using laparoscopic and open techniques.
• 36 colon resections.
• 3,000 outpatient and day-surgery procedures.  

He regularly participates in national courses and conferences, often as a speaker, and has authored several scientific publications.
