Biography

Dr. Andrea Distefano is an ophthalmologist at the Ophthalmology Unit of the Istituto di Cura Città di Pavia and the IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele in Milan.

He earned his degree in Medicine and Surgery in 2019 from the Vita-Salute San Raffaele University, obtaining his medical license the following year. In 2025, he completed his specialization in Ophthalmology at the same university, further strengthening his expertise in ocular diseases and advanced diagnostics.

Throughout his career, Dr. Distefano has gained extensive experience in ophthalmic diagnostics, with a particular focus on ocular ultrasound, UBM (ultrasound biomicroscopy), and OCT (optical coherence tomography). He also practices general ophthalmology and has developed specialized expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of dry eye disease and glaucoma.

He has enhanced his training with specialized continuing education courses, including an advanced ultrasound course in 2021 at the Echography Teaching Service in Regensburg and a theoretical-practical course in ocular ultrasound in 2022, organized by the Italian Society of Ophthalmological Sciences (S.I.S.O.) in Salerno.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Distefano is actively engaged in scientific research and medical education.

He has collaborated as a co-author on publications and textbooks in the field of ocular ultrasound, contributing to advancements in this area of study.
