Alessandra Scalese
Biography
Dr. Alessandra Scalese is an orthopedic surgeon at the Hand Surgery Unit III at the Istituto Clinico San Siro.
In 2004, she graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Milan, where she specialized in Orthopedics and Traumatology in 2009.
She began her training in hand surgery during her residency at the Hand Surgery I Department of the IRCCS Istituto Ortopedico Galeazzi, where she took on the role of medical director after completing her specialization.
She has attended advanced training courses in Italy and abroad, particularly focusing on the treatment of fractures, the use of hand and wrist prosthetics, ultrasound and echotherapy, and arthroscopic treatment of fractures and capsuloligamentous injuries of the wrist and hand.
Dr. Scalese deals with conditions affecting the hand, wrist, and elbow, restoring lost functionality. Specifically, she addresses degenerative arthritic conditions, tendinopathies, nerve compressions in the upper limb, nerve injuries and their outcomes, hand and wrist trauma, Dupuytren's disease, post-traumatic outcomes, and capsuloligamentous injuries of the wrist and hand.
Over time, she has developed a particular interest in the use of hand prosthetics as well as minimally invasive techniques, such as ultrasound-guided techniques and arthroscopic approaches.
She is a member of the Italian Society of Hand Surgery (SICM) and the American Society of Hand Surgery (ASSH). She has contributed to the writing of chapters in orthopedic textbooks and has presented the results of her clinical and surgical activities at national congresses.
