Massimo Falconi

Biography

Professor Massimo Falconi is the Head of the Department of Pancreatic Surgery as well as Director of the Translational & Clinical Research Center at IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele in Milan and the Ordinary Professor in Surgery at the Vita-Salute San Raffaele University.

He began his education with a Degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Verona, where he then specialized in general surgery, gastroenterology and digestive endoscopy.

He participated in international research projects in Germany, Spain, Ecuador and Japan. He is the member of various medical societies such as IAP (International Association of Pancreatology), EPC (European Pancreatic Club), ENETS (European NeuroEndocrine Tumor Society) and HPBA (Hepato-Pancreatic-Biliary Association). In Italy, he is the Chairman of the Italian Association for the Study of the Pancreas (AISP) and the member of SIC (Italian Surgical Society) and SIGE (Italian Society of Gastroenterology and Digestive Endoscopy). He is the former Chairman of ENETS (2016-2018) and currently Chairman of the ItaNet association.

His Hirsch Index is 79 (Scopus), he is the author or co-author of over 450 peer-reviewed articles published in high Impact Factor journals (including the Nature, New England Journal of Medicine, Journal of Clinical Oncology, Annals of Oncology, British Journal of Surgery, Lancet, Annals of Surgery). He is the Area Associated Editor of the Pancreatic and Neuroendocrine Tumors section of the Digestive and Liver Disease, the official publication of the French and Italian gastroenterological societies.
