Felice Cosentino

Dr. Felice Cosentino is a gastroenterologist and specialist in Digestive Surgery and Digestive Endoscopy at the Casa di Cura La Madonnina in Milan. He is also the Scientific Director of the Gastroenterology and Digestive Endoscopy Service at Istituti Clinici Zucchi.

Former President of the Italian Society of Digestive Endoscopy (SIED), he served as Head of the Gastroenterology and Digestive Endoscopy Unit at San Giuseppe University Hospital in Milan (2008–2019) and of the Digestive Endoscopy Unit at San Paolo Hospital in Milan (1980–2007).

He is the author of important works such as The History of Digestive Endoscopy in Italy, The White Book of Endoscopy, and Complications in Digestive Endoscopy. He has also collaborated with the World Organization of Digestive Endoscopy in the production and dissemination of the video series Endoscopic Terminology.

He focuses particularly on the treatment of digestive system diseases (gastroesophageal reflux, colon polyps, diverticulosis, gastrointestinal bleeding, abdominal pain), as well as on the causes of bloating, which may be related to food intolerances, dysbiosis, altered intestinal permeability, and other conditions. In this highly relevant area, he launched the Microbiota Clinic in collaboration with a team of specialists (microbiologist, pharmacologist, infectious disease specialist, and nutritionist) to quantitatively and qualitatively analyze gut flora, detect imbalances, and offer targeted therapies.

For over 40 years, he has worked in digestive endoscopy, with experience in all fields, both diagnostic and therapeutic. In recent years, to meet patients’ needs, he has focused on the development of “non-invasive” procedures such as transnasal gastroscopy (using a thin, atraumatic device without sedation), colon wash (retrograde colon cleansing to avoid traditional bowel prep), and robotic Endotics colonoscopy (with a disposable, painless, and complication-free instrument).
