البروفيسور شيزري مافاي هو رئيس قسم علم النفس السريري والعلاج النفسي في مستشفى سان رافاييلي (Ospedale San Raffaele) بميلانو وبروفيسور لعلم النفس السريري في جامعة فيتا-سالوت سان رافاييلي (Università Vita-Salute San Raffaele).

بعد تخرجه في الطب والجراحة، تخصص في الطب النفسي من جامعة ميلانو (Università degli Studi di Milano).

 البروفيسور شيزري مافاي هو المؤسس المشارك ورئيس الجمعية الإيطالية للعلاج السلوكي الجدلي (Società Italiana per la Dialectical Behavior Therapy)، التابعة لمعهد لينهان للتقنيات السلوكية (Behavioral Tech Institute) في سياتل (الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية) وهو أيضا العضو المؤسس ورئيس الجمعية الإيطالية لدراسة اضطرابات الشخصية (Associazione Italiana per lo Studio dei Disturbi di Personalità - AISDP).

البروفيسور مافاي يشارك في أبحاث مكثفة جنبًا إلى جنب مع الأنشطة السريرية، مع المساهمات الأصلية المنشورة في المجلات العلمية المرموقة، بما في ذلك Psychoanalytic Psychology و Personality and Mental Health و Journal of Personality Disorders و Borderline Personality Disorder and Emotion Dysregulation و Comprehensive Psychiatry و Giornale Italiano di Psicologia و Assessment.
