Biografie
Dr. Carmelo Geremia is an expert in digestive system diseases at the Proctology and Pelvic Floor Surgery Unit at the Istituto di Cura Città di Pavia.
He graduated with honors in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Messina in 1984 and specialized in digestive system diseases at the same university in 1989.
Dr. Geremia received training in digestive endoscopy at the Gastroenterology and Digestive Endoscopy Division of the Reggio Calabria Hospital and later, until 1992, at the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Division of the University Hospital of Zurich.
In 1993, he furthered his expertise in colon-proctology and intestinal motility disorders (anorectal manometry) at the Colon-Proctology Unit in Rome, based at Villa Flaminia.
He has refined pelvic-perineal rehabilitation techniques, such as:
- Biofeedback
- Functional electrostimulation
- Kinesitherapy
In 2014, he completed an international master's program in pelvic-perineal rehabilitation, further enhancing his expertise. Additionally, he has gained specialized skills in internal ultrasound and dynamic perineal ultrasound.
Dr. Geremia is the head of the Ano-Rectal Functional Diagnostics and Pelvic Floor service and the coordinator of the Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation Therapy service at the Istituto di Cura Città di Pavia.
He founded and directed the "Pelvi Perineal Center for the Diagnosis and Treatment of Pelvic Floor Diseases" in Reggio Calabria, Messina, and Milan in 2009.
He also co-coordinated the Reggio Calabria branch of the Colon-Proctology Unit in Messina and Reggio Calabria (accredited by SICCR) and coordinated the Colon-Proctology Unit in Reggio Calabria (accredited by SIUCP).
Dr. Geremia is a proctologist, perineologist, and gastroenterologist specializing in pelvic floor diseases.

He was also a professor at the University of Rome Tor Vergata, teaching during the academic years 2010/11, 2011/12, and 2012/13, and a lecturer in the general medicine specialization course in Germaneto-Catanzaro.
