Maria Magnani

Dr. Maria Magnani is an anesthesiologist and intensivist at the Anesthesia and Intensive Care Unit of Istituto Clinico S. Anna, Istituto Clinico Città di Brescia, and Istituto Clinico San Rocco.

She graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Brescia in 2007. In the same year, she completed a postgraduate course with Prof. M. Tiengo at the University of Milan. In 2008, she obtained a diploma in Homeopathy from the Brescia Homeopathic Association. By 2011, she had completed a four-year advanced course in Acupuncture and Complementary Techniques at the "So-Wen" Study Center in Milan. In 2012, Dr. Magnani specialized in Anesthesia and Intensive Care at the University of Brescia.

Throughout her academic and professional career, Dr. Magnani has attended numerous training courses in various disciplines, including anatomy, pulmonology, occupational medicine, geriatrics, internal medicine, and cardiology. She has also participated in specialized courses such as:

• Fibroendoscopy in clinical practice (Brescia, 2009)
• SimuLearn AAROI courses, focusing on thoracic surgery anesthesia and labor and delivery anesthesia
• Ultrasound Central Vascular Catheterization at IRCCS Neurological Institute C. Besta, Milan (2009)
• Basic Life Support Defibrillation (BLSD), IRC (2012)
• Theoretical and practical courses on loco-regional anesthesia and ultrasound-guided vascular access at the Rizzoli Orthopedic Institute, Bologna (June 2013) and G. Pini Institute, Milan (December 2012)
• Basic course in emergency ultrasound (Piacenza, November 2015)

In 2017, Dr. Magnani earned a Level II Master's degree in Pain Therapy from the University of Milan.

Since 2012, she has been working as an anesthesiologist and intensivist at the Anesthesia Service, Intensive Care Unit, Emergency Department, and Outpatient Clinic of the Istituto Clinico Città di Brescia. She has developed extensive experience in emergency and elective anesthesiology and is an expert in:

• Ultrasound-guided loco-regional anesthesia techniques
• Epidural analgesia
• Patient Blood Management
• Pain therapy
• Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) and rapid recovery
• Severe chronic pain management

Dr. Magnani is also skilled in managing pre-, intra-, and post-operative care for elderly patients and patients in shock from various causes. She is a prescribing physician for the ATS of Brescia for home oxygen therapy assistance.

As a speaker, she has contributed to several ECM-accredited courses, including:

• A perioperative analgesia update course for doctors and nurses of the Gruppo San Donato (September 12, 2018)
• Anesthesiology techniques in hip and knee prosthetic surgery for professional nurses of Gruppo San Donato (October 2015)

She is the author and co-author of protocols, particularly those related to Patient Blood Management and the organization of outpatient pain therapy activities.
