Biographie
Professor Giuseppe Pozzi is a general and thoracic surgeon specializing in advanced minimally invasive laparoscopic reconstruction of the abdominal wall, a field he practices at Casa di Cura La Madonnina.
After earning his degree in Medicine and Surgery in 1988 from the Sapienza University of Rome, he specialized in General Surgery (1993) and Thoracic Surgery (1998) at the same university.
Professor Pozzi is dedicated to minimally invasive General Surgery, particularly gas-less laparoscopic surgery of the abdominal wall for the treatment of rectus muscle diastasis, umbilical hernia, abdominal hernias, laparoceles, and inguinal and femoral hernias.
At Casa di Cura La Madonnina in Milan and the Quisisana Clinic in Rome, he conducts surgical consultations, second opinions, surgeries, and re-interventions using advanced minimally invasive techniques.
In 2019, he founded and became the Director of the International Center for Abdominal Diastasis (C.I.D.A.), dedicated to the minimally invasive laparoscopic gas-less treatment of abdominal diastasis and hernia conditions, commonly found in post-pregnancy women, athletes, and competitive sportspeople.
In 2006, he invented the LAP-T Technique (Laparoscopic Abdominoplasty Pozzi Technique), with the aim of restoring both the anatomical and functional integrity of the abdominal wall with minimal surgical and anesthetic invasiveness while achieving superior aesthetic results.
With over 2,000 surgeries performed using the LAP-T technique, he holds a significant global case series for laparoscopic surgeries treating abdominal diastasis and associated hernia pathology.
He also developed a protocol based on the use of 3D CT with dedicated measurements for accurate preoperative diagnosis of abdominal wall pathologies and personalized postoperative rehabilitation.
Regarding his teaching activities in minimally invasive abdominal wall surgery and hernia pathology, he has held the title of Visiting Professor at the ICAHN School of Medicine, Department of Hernia Surgery at Mount Sinai, Manhattan, New York, USA, since 2023.
From 2011 to 2022, he was a faculty member and responsible for the National Center in Rome for Training and Internship in Advanced Minimally Invasive Laparoscopic Surgery of the Abdominal Wall, specifically for the treatment of rectus muscle diastasis, hernias, and laparoceles, dedicated to surgeons of the A.C.O.I. (Association of Italian Hospital Surgeons).
From 2013 to 2022, he was also a lecturer in minimally invasive surgery of rectus muscle diastasis, abdominal hernias, and laparoceles, and the responsible tutor for the Surgical Training Pathway in Rome for surgeons associated with the Abdominal Wall Surgery School I.S.H.A.W.S.: Italian Society of Hernia and Abdominal Wall Surgery.
From 2019 to 2022, he was a lecturer in minimally invasive abdominal diastasis surgery, tutor, and responsible for the Training Center in Rome for surgeons associated with the Abdominal Wall Surgery School of the S.I.C.: Italian Society of Surgery.
