Laura Scaramuzzo

Dr. Laura Scaramuzzo is a research physician engaged in auxiliary clinical activities in the I Department of Vertebral Surgery of the IRCCS Istituto Ortopedico Galeazzi. 

In 2006, she graduated with honors from the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Rome. During her studies, from 2004 to 2006, she worked in the Department of Spine Surgery of the Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology of the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery "A. Gemelli", Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Rome.

In 2007, she received a scholarship at the Higher Institute named after Giuseppe Toniolo of the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery "A. Gemelli", Catholic University of the Sacred Heart of Rome.

In 2012, she received a specialization in orthopedics and traumatology at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Rome. 

Dr. Scaramuzzo deals with deformities of the vertebrae in both the coronary and sagittal planes during development and in adulthood. In particular, during both conservative and surgical methods of treatment of pathologies such as scoliosis, hyperkyphosis and imbalance.

He is also particularly interested in spondylolistheses of both isthmic, dysplastic, and traumatic types, using various surgical techniques and conservative treatment. He also performs targeted treatment of vertebral fractures of both traumatic and osteoporotic nature and vertebral infections of various etiologies (spondylodiscitis).

Dr. Scaramuzzo is also engaged in biomechanical research of the materials used and their relationship with more strictly clinical aspects. She conducts her research in collaboration with the biomechanics laboratory provided by the hospital, as well as with Italian and foreign university institutes.

Participating in Italian and foreign scientific societies of the sector, she is actively involved in both management and interdisciplinary research task forces. During the year, he regularly attends as an instructor or speaker at national and international conferences/courses. She is the author of publications in national and international journals. Special attention is paid to the evaluation of clinical and radiological results achieved using consolidated and innovative surgical methods.
