Dr. Massimo Locatelli is the Director of the Laboratory Medicine Service at IRCCS San Raffaele Hospital.
In 1984, he graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Pavia, where he also specialized in Clinical Biology in 1989.
At the Laboratory Medicine Service of San Raffaele Hospital, he oversees the sections of Clinical Chemistry-Proteins, Separation Techniques, Toxicology, and Informatics.
Dr. Locatelli collaborates as a clinical biochemistry consultant with international-level sports teams, conducting biochemical analyses to assess the health status of athletes and numerous toxicological investigations to evaluate potential use of psychotropic substances and doping agents. To this end, he has worked on developing screening tests for detecting substances of abuse and ethanol using immunological and radioimmunological methods.
He collaborates with clinical representatives at IRCCS San Raffaele Hospital on experimental protocols in cardiology and cardiac surgery.
