Dr. Alessandro Luzzati is the Head of the Operative Unit of Center for Orthopaedic Oncology and Reconstructive Surgery of the Spine (C.C.O.O.R.R.) at IRCCS Ospedale Galeazzi - Sant'Ambrogio.

After graduating in Medicine and Surgery in 1980 from the University of Milan, he specialized in 1985 in Orthopedics and Traumatology and in 1995 in Microsurgery at the same university.

His professional experiences include:

  • From 1991 to 1992, he was Chef de Clinique Assistant at the Service de Chirurgie Orthopedique et Traumatologique of the Hospital Pitié Salpetriere in Paris, directed by Professor Raymond RoyCamille.
  • Until 1999, he was supervising physician at the Orthopedic Oncology Center of the "Gaetano Pini" Hospital in Milan, Italy, where, following his experience in France, he personally introduced modern oncologic spinal surgery.
  • From 1999 to 2009, he was the Head of the Orthopaedics and Traumatology Unit at Cremona Hospital. During this period, he performed many major complex surgeries and introduced exnovo bone sarcoma and spine surgery to the national level of excellence.
  • Since 1999, he has been a Consultant Orthopedist at IRCCS Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori in Milan.
  • Since 2012, he has been a Consultant Orthopedist at IRCCS Istituto Neurologico Besta in Milan.

He personally performs 150 major orthopedic surgeries per year (major resections and reconstructions of the spine, pelvis, and long bones; primary and revision arthroplasty; stabilizations and osteosynthesis of pathological fractures.

He coordinates and leads teams of specialists for surgeries requiring special demolition and challenging orthopedic reconstructions (thoracic, abdominal, plastic and vascular surgeons).

A speaker at more than 100 conferences, both national and international, Dr. Luzzati has authored more than 200 papers including publications, articles, posters and presentations at national and international scientific meetings.
