Биография
Dr. Matteo Marullo is an orthopedic surgeon at the Prosthetic Surgery Center at IRCCS Ospedale Galeazzi - Sant’Ambrogio, under the direction of Dr. Sergio Romagnoli. He specializes in minimally invasive and personalized prosthetic surgery for the knee and hip. He also collaborates with Palazzo della Salute.
He graduated with honors in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Pavia and completed his specialization in Orthopedics and Traumatology with honors at the same institution.
Dr. Marullo began his orthopedic career with a focus on sports traumatology. His interest in this field led him to the Service de Chirurgie Orthopédique et Traumatologie at the Center Hospitalier Universitaire de la Basse-Terre in Guadeloupe (France) in 2012, and then to Lyon (France) in 2013, where he worked with Professor David Dejour at the Lyon Ortho-Clinic to deepen his expertise in knee pathologies.
In 2014, he won the European DJO-SIGASCOT scholarship, allowing him to study in Austria, Switzerland, and Germany.
As of December 2023, Dr. Marullo has performed over 2,400 knee and hip prosthetic surgeries as the primary operator and over 6,000 surgeries as a secondary operator.
His clinical activities are focused on:
- Minimally invasive and personalized knee prosthetic surgery
- Partial and total knee prosthetic replacement, combined unicompartmental surgery, and simultaneous bilateral surgery
- Minimally invasive hip prosthetic surgery
- Revision surgery for knee and hip prostheses
- Knee arthroscopy: meniscectomy, meniscal repairs, and ligament reconstruction
- Patellar instability surgery
Dr. Marullo is a member of ESSKA (European Society of Sport Traumatology, Knee Surgery and Arthroscopy), EKA (European Knee Associates), where he is responsible for the unicompartmental prosthetic group, and a founding member of the Personalized Arthroplasty Society.
