Andrea Zanichelli (Андреа Заничелли)

Dr. Andrea Zanichelli is the Head of the Angioedema Center within the Medical Area at IRCCS Policlinico San Donato.

His professional career began in 1998 when he graduated with honors in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Milan, followed by a specialization in Internal Medicine at the same institution in 2004.

Since 1998, he has been involved in research on angioedema in Italy, initially under the mentorship of Prof. Agostoni and later Prof. Cicardi from the University of Milan. He also spent two years (1999-2001) working abroad at the Sanquin Center in Amsterdam. Dr. Zanichelli has gained extensive experience working in Internal Medicine departments, mastering essential skills such as patient empathy, diagnosis, and the treatment of both common and rare diseases.

In 2008, he obtained a PhD in Clinical Methodology from the University of Milan.

Since 2022, he has held the position of Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Milan, and that same year, he was appointed Head of the Angioedema Center at Policlinico San Donato.

In addition to internal medicine, Dr. Zanichelli's primary research focus has been angioedema, particularly hereditary angioedema. Over the years, he has extensively studied the pathophysiological mechanisms of this rare disease, as well as the most current treatment options.

Dr. Zanichelli has published 115 articles on angioedema in indexed international journals, achieving an H-index of 36, which places him among the world’s leading experts on this condition.
