Dr. Samuel Mancuso is a cardiac surgeon at the Minimally Invasive Endoscopic Cardiac Surgery Unit of IRCCS Policlinico San Donato.

He graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Turin in 2010 and specialized in Cardiac Surgery in 2017 at the same university. In 2020, he earned a Master’s degree in Patient Blood Management from Sapienza University of Rome.

During his specialization, he completed training abroad in Bloodless Cardiac Surgery at the DeBakey Heart and Vascular Center in Houston.

Dr. Mancuso’s areas of interest include:

  • Minimally invasive valve surgery in adults (mitral, aortic, and tricuspid valves)
  • Off-pump myocardial revascularization using arterial grafts
  • Patient Blood Management techniques to improve patient outcomes, particularly for individuals who cannot receive transfusions due to religious, personal, or clinical reasons

He is the author and co-author of 16 publications in the fields of minimally invasive cardiac surgery, infectious endocarditis, and bloodless cardiac surgery, with an H-index of 6.

Since 2017, he has served as moderator and faculty member at numerous national and international congresses on Patient Blood Management and bloodless protocols.

Since 2021, he has been part of the teaching faculty of the Master’s program in Patient Blood Management at Sapienza University of Rome.
