Biografía
Dr. Vito Lavanga is a specialist in Orthopedics and Traumatology at the Istituto di Cura Città di Pavia and the Istituto Clinico Beato Matteo in Vigevano.
He graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Milan in July 2012, with top honors (110/110), with a thesis on “Oxidative Stress and Osteoarthritis.” In 2018, he specialized in Orthopedics and Traumatology at the same institution, with a grade of 70/70 with honors, discussing a thesis titled “Aspects of Antifragility in Minimally Invasive Surgery. A Retrospective Case-Control Study with Three Different Types of Instrumentation for Degenerative Lumbar Pathology.”
From 2017 to 2020, he attended the Sowen School of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture in Milan.
In 2016 and 2017, he participated in two editions of the Minimally Invasive Spine Course - K2M Spinal Systems, Cadaver Lab.
Over the years, he has honed his skills through clinical experience and various professional courses, including the Ultrasound-Guided Injections Course for Shoulder, Knee, and Lumbar Spine by Articolando Sofar in September 2017, and the AO Base Trauma course by the AO Foundation in April 2018.
He has participated in over 1,400 surgeries as the first and second operator in mixed teams consisting of orthopedic surgeons and neurosurgeons.
He has specific expertise in various areas: from posterior, anterior, and lateral approaches for lumbar and cervical spine surgery to spinal deformity correction.
He is involved in minimally invasive spinal surgery through percutaneous techniques and hip and knee prosthetic surgery. He uses innovative equipment such as the O-arm2 neuronavigator and intraoperative microscope.
He also has expertise in physical therapies such as focal shockwave therapy, pulsed electromagnetic fields, and vascular physical therapy.
He pays particular attention to the concept of antifragility in living beings and the risk-benefit balance applied in medicine.
He treats lumbar and cervical pathology applying his studies in Traditional Chinese Medicine and acupuncture.
