Giacomo Concone

Dr. Giacomo Concone is a general surgeon and assistant at the General and Emergency Surgery Unit and the Chief Surgeon on duty at the Emergency Department of the IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele. He also works at the Punto Raf clinic on Via Washington.

In 2009, he graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Milan, and in 2016, he completed his specialization in General Surgery at the University of Pavia.

His professional experience includes:

• From 2012 to 2017, he worked in the General Surgery II and Transplant Unit at the ASST Grande Ospedale Metropolitano Niguarda in Milan.
• From 2017 to June 2023, he served as a medical officer in the General Surgery Unit at Bassini Hospital.

He performs surgeries as the lead operator in both elective and emergency surgeries, with expertise in the following surgical areas:

• Major laparoscopic surgery and open approach: colorectal pathology (colon-rectal cancer, diverticulosis, diverticula), gastric pathology, abdominal wall pathology (treatment of inguinal and abdominal wall hernias, and complex incisional hernias), and gallbladder diseases (cholelithiasis, adenomyomatosis).
• Day surgery and outpatient procedures (removal of nevi, lipomas, cysts, and skin lesions).

In the Emergency Department, he is responsible for the clinical management of patients with surgical pathologies and polytrauma cases.

Dr. Concone has worked as an associate researcher in the Neurophysiology of the Gastrointestinal System laboratory at the Vita-Salute San Raffaele University and, as a contract professor, has taught courses in English as part of the International MD Program for the Master’s Degree in Medicine and Surgery, focusing on human physiology.
