She studied at the University of Pavia, one of Italy’s oldest universities, where she graduated with full marks in Medicine and Surgery. She later completed her specialization in Neurology at the same university, training at the IRCCS Fondazione Mondino in Pavia, where she first approached the field of neuro-oncology—later becoming the focus of her PhD in Neuroscience.
During her specialization and subsequent PhD, she spent over two years at the ICM Brain and Spine Institute and in the Neuro-Oncology Department of the Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital in Paris, where she acquired highly specialized expertise in the molecular diagnosis and treatment of primary brain tumors.
Dr. Berzero carries out outpatient clinical activity focusing on the diagnosis and treatment of primary tumors of the nervous system and on neurological complications arising in patients with extracerebral cancers. In addition to patient care, she is actively involved in translational research projects and several clinical trials, where she serves as principal or co-investigator.
She has been managing patients with primary brain tumors or neurological complications related to oncological treatments for extracranial cancers for more than ten years.
Her clinical experience abroad and subsequent work within major IRCCS hospitals in Lombardy attest to the solid skills she has developed in her field of expertise.
She is co-author of more than 70 peer-reviewed publications, including articles in internationally renowned journals such as Nature Medicine, Annals of Neurology, Neuro-Oncology, and Neurology. She is a member of the EORTC Brain Tumour Group and of the Neuro-Oncology Committee of the European Academy of Neurology (EAN), and she regularly participates as a speaker at major national and international congresses in the field of neuro-oncology.
