Gianluca Beretta

Dr. Gianluca Beretta is the Head of the Laboratory Medicine Service at Policlinico San Pietro in Bergamo. He is also a contract professor at the Vita-Salute San Raffaele University in Milan, where he has been teaching Clinical Microbiology since 2018.

He earned his degree in Biological Sciences in 1995 from the University of Milan and specialized in Microbiology and Virology at the University of Brescia in 2006. During his training, he focused on clinical and environmental microbiology, intestinal microbiology, flow cytometry, and cytological, microbiological, and parasitological microscopy.

His competencies include coordinating the Laboratory Medicine Services of the Bergamo Hospital Group, overseeing blood draw centers, supervising external lab services, and serving as Laboratory Quality Manager. He also coordinates food intolerance diagnostics in close collaboration with the Group’s gastroenterologists.

Dr. Beretta organizes and teaches accredited internal ECM (Continuing Medical Education) courses for laboratory technicians, nurses, and doctors. He is a permanent member of the Blood Usage Committee, the Hospital Infection Committee (CIO), and the Operational Infection Group (GOI). He actively participates in the Clinical Risk Committee of the Bergamo Hospital Group.
