Dr. Ercole De Masi is a consultant physician in Gastroenterology and Digestive Endoscopy at IRCCS Ospedale Galeazzi - Sant'Ambrogio.

He earned his degree in Medicine and Surgery in 1972 from La Sapienza University of Rome, where he later specialized in General Surgery in 1977 and Digestive System Diseases in 1983. In 2013, he further specialized in Nutrition for the Elderly at DS Medica Bologna, and in 2017, he completed a Master’s degree in Culinary Nutrition. He employs the ESO (Empathetic, Supportive, Holistic) approach in his patient care.

From 1999 to 2012, Dr. De Masi served as the Chief of Gastroenterology at I.D.I. San Carlo Hospital in Rome. He was also the Director of the Gastroenterology Clinic for the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI), where he focused on the gastrointestinal health of athletes.

His clinical expertise includes the endoscopic treatment of colon polyps, liver and biliary tract diseases, and food intolerances, with particular attention to celiac disease and lactose intolerance. He performs diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, including gastroscopies and colonoscopies.

Dr. De Masi has also been a lecturer in Health Management and Organization at the Specialization School in Anatomy and Histology at La Sapienza University of Rome. Additionally, he has served as a Referee for the Italian Ministry of Health (ECM Commission) and as a member of the National Scientific Commission of the Italian League Against Cancer, led by Professor Umberto Veronesi, with whom Dr. De Masi collaborated for several years. He is also a member and delegate for Italy at the World Obesity Federation.

He is the author of numerous publications in prestigious national and international journals.
