Ennio Leopaldi

Dr. Ennio Leopaldi practices as a general and vascular surgeon at Casa di Cura La Madonnina. 

In 1979, he graduated from the University of Trieste with a degree in Medicine and Surgery, where he received his residency in General Surgery in 1984 and, five years later, his residency in Vascular Surgery. 

In 1990, he obtained his Chief of General Surgery qualification, and in 1998 he completed the Management Training Course for Medical Executives. 

During his training years, he carried out several internships abroad in specialized centers of international standing. 

Early in his career, Dr. Leopaldi's surgical activity focused mainly on Vascular Surgery, an area in which he increased his experience by serving as Assistant Professor of General Surgery at St. Anthony's Hospital in San Daniele del Friuli.

Since 1990, he has been progressively involved in Endocrine Surgery, a field in which he has achieved top honors at all levels. 

In 2004, the Lombardy Region recognized his Endocrine Surgery activity an "Area of Excellence" at the Luigi Sacco Hospital in Milan, where he practiced as General Surgeon. 

He performs surgeries using modern laparoscopic techniques both at the abdominal level and, in particular, in Endocrine Surgery: 

• Minimally invasive thyroid and parathyroid surgery;
• Laparoscopic surgery of the adrenal and endocrine pancreas;
• Endoscopic (posterior) surgery of the adrenal gland.

He has operated as First Operator over 3,000 thyroids, over 400 parathyroids and about 150 adrenals.

He is an author of nearly 100 scientific publications (in several prestigious journals such as Surgery, Langenbeck, World J. of Surgery, J. Bone and Mineral Research, Hernia, etc.).

He also held several positions (including elective positions) within the two Italian Societies of Endocrine Surgery (SIEC and UEC) and then in the united society (SIUEC) that was formed in 2016 by merger of the above two societies.

He is currently involved in general surgery and vascular surgery.
