Ciro Bonifati

Dr. Ciro Bonifati is a Vascular Surgeon in the Vascular Surgery Unit at the Istituto di Cura Città di Pavia.

He graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Pavia in 1979. He then obtained a specialization in Vascular Surgery in 1985 and a specialization in General Surgery in 1994, both from the same university.

Since January 2022, Dr. Bonifati has been working in the Vascular Surgery Unit at the Istituto di Cura Città di Pavia, where he performs both outpatient and surgical activities. His clinical work includes specialized consultations, arterial and venous color Doppler ultrasounds, and sclerotherapy for varicose veins and telangiectasias.

His surgical practice primarily focuses on the treatment of varicose veins in the lower limbs using both traditional methods (such as stripping and phlebectomy) and endovascular techniques (including laser, radiofrequency, and MOCA).

Dr. Bonifati has worked in various accredited private facilities, where he has specialized in phlebological surgery and non-invasive vascular diagnostics. Since 2005, after completing training courses in Italy and the UK, he has performed venous endovascular surgery, primarily using laser thermal ablation, but also radiofrequency and MOCA techniques. Currently, 90% of his varicose vein surgeries are performed using these minimally invasive methods.
