Dr. Anna Angela Rachele Beretta is a pulmonologist at the Pulmonology Service of Istituto Clinico Beato Matteo in Vigevano and Istituto di Cura Città di Pavia.
She graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Pavia in 1994 and subsequently specialized in Respiratory Diseases and Tuberculosis at the same university in 2001.
From October 1997 to October 2001, she worked at the Policlinico “San Matteo IRCCS,” where she focused on:
- Demographics and epidemiology of respiratory diseases
- Physiology and pathophysiology of the respiratory system
- Respiratory semiotics
- Respiratory pathology, clinical management, and therapy
- Respiratory rehabilitation
- Arterial blood gas analysis, bronchoscopy, thoracentesis
- Implementation of pleural drainage
- Invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation
She also managed Day Hospital admissions.
Dr. Beretta has served as a specialist physician at the “S. Maugeri” Foundation in Pavia, working in the general ward and respiratory sub-intensive care, with expertise in non-invasive mechanical ventilation techniques.
From June 2007 to March 2021, she was an assistant at the Cardiorespiratory Rehabilitation Unit at the Istituto Clinico Humanitas in Rozzano, serving as a specialist physician in the ward, focusing on patients from cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, and pneumology.
She managed exercise tests, cardiopulmonary testing, pneumology outpatient clinics, and diagnostic procedures (spirometry and walk tests).
Currently, at the Istituto Clinico Beato Matteo, Dr. Beretta is involved in clinical evaluation, functional assessment, and follow-up of patients with lung diseases, including COPD, bronchiectasis, respiratory failure, spirometry with plethysmography technique, DLCO, and pharmacological bronchodilation testing.
Her research interests include:
- Sarcoidosis
- Clinical screening and genetics
- Diagnosis and screening for alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency
- Pulmonary interstitial diseases
She has a particular interest in:
- Rehabilitative pneumology
- Clinical-functional assessment of obstructive ventilatory syndromes (COPD)
- Monitoring of patients with chronic respiratory failure, oxygen therapy, and non-invasive ventilation.
