INCO is a national reference centre for the treatment of obesity and metabolic disorders since 2010, ensuring a continuous and patient-centered care.

Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery at INCO is performed by highly experienced and skilled surgeons using the most innovative laparoscopic and minimally invasive techniques, including laparoscopic gastric and mini-gastric bypass, laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy, and laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding.

Surgeons work hand in hand with a multidisciplinary team, composed of endocrinologists, bariatric dietitians, clinical psychologists and psychiatrists. This multimodal approach offers a comprehensive care for obesity and its comorbidities, according to International Guidelines.

Particular importance is given to revisional bariatric and metabolic procedures, for patients that have met unsatisfactory results in terms of weight loss or metabolic control. INCO offers also a dedicated post-bariatric reconstructive surgery and a nutritional rehabilitation, focusing on the most common comorbidities especially type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome.

The center is directed by Dr. Alessandro Giovanelli, who has been dealing with obesity for years, with one of the highest treatment volumes in Italy. He performs mostly procedures of high surgical complexity, that are the subject of advanced interactive courses for bariatric surgeons nationwide during the last years.

The multidisciplinary team works together with two new figures in the Italian medical landscape: The Patient Manager, who ensures a continuous patient assistance in the clinical path, and the Case Manager, a dedicated nurse, who indicates the distinctive approach to the bariatric patient.
