Stefano Rabitti
Biography
Dr. Stefano Rabitti is a gastroenterologist and digestive endoscopist at the Digestive Endoscopy Service of Ospedale Villa Erbosa in Bologna.
He graduated with honors in Medicine and Surgery in 2011 from the University of Bologna (Alma Mater Studiorum). In the same year, he worked as a Research Fellow at the Institute of Genetic Health and Therapeutics, Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, in Leeds, UK, focusing on the epidemiology and prevention of digestive tract cancers.
In 2017, Dr. Rabitti specialized in Gastroenterology, again with honors, from the University of Bologna.
His clinical and research work centers on the study of key gastrointestinal and liver diseases, including:
- Acid reflux
- Gastritis
- H. pylori infections
- Barrett's esophagus
- Inflammatory bowel diseases
- Irritable bowel syndrome
- Diverticular disease
- Bowel movement alterations
- Dysbiosis
- Biliary and pancreatic disorders
Dr. Rabitti has a special interest in nutrition, gut microbiota, and the prevention and treatment of digestive cancers. He performs more than 2,000 endoscopic procedures per year, both diagnostic and operative (gastroscopies and rectocolonoscopies), using the most advanced endoscopic techniques. These include:
- Polypectomies
- Mucosectomies (EMR)
- Removal of pre-neoplastic and early tumor lesions
He also conducts abdominal ultrasounds with a focus on evaluating inflammatory bowel conditions and detecting metabolic diseases such as gallstones, fatty liver, and chronic liver diseases.
Dr. Rabitti is the author of numerous scientific publications in national and international journals. He also contributed a chapter titled "Advances in Comprehension in Diet as Magic Bullet to Prevent Cancer of the Gastrointestinal System" in the manuscript *Human Nutrition from the Gastroenterologist's Perspective: Lessons from EXPO Milano 2015*.
