Sandra Brigitte Weinfurter
Biography
Dr. Sandra Brigitte Weinfurter is a specialist in ophthalmology practicing at Villa Erbosa and Villa Chiara in Bologna.
After earning her degree in Medicine and Surgery in 2001 and specializing in Ophthalmology in 2010 at Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz, Germany, she obtained a PhD under Prof. Albert Augustin with magna cum laude honors. In 2017, she also completed a Level II Master's in Aesthetic Medicine at the University of Parma.
At the beginning of her career, Dr. Weinfurter collaborated with several healthcare institutions in Germany. Since 2007, she has been practicing at Villa Toniolo and working with various clinics in Bologna and the Emilia-Romagna region. In 2017, she opened her private practice, Studio Santo Stefano in Bologna.
She specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of ocular diseases, with a particular focus on age-related macular degeneration and retinal conditions. Her surgical expertise includes ophthalmoplasty, facial aesthetic procedures, and anterior segment surgery. She is also an expert in the diagnosis and treatment of Dry Eye Syndrome and is a member of the International Dry Eye Academy.
From 2011 to 2016, she was a lecturer at the Benigno Zaccagnini Institute in Bologna, teaching Ocular Anatomy and Pathophysiology in Optometry and Contact Lens courses.
Dr. Weinfurter is a member of several prestigious national and international scientific societies, including the Italian Society of Ophthalmological Sciences (SISO), the German Ophthalmological Society (DOG), and the Italian Society of Aesthetic Medicine and Surgery (SIES). She has authored multiple publications in scientific journals and books, organized national congresses, and regularly speaks at national and international ophthalmology conferences.
