Salvatore Noto

Dr. Salvatore Noto is a dermatologist at Smart Clinic and at the Centro Diagnostico di Treviglio.

He graduated in Medicine and Surgery in 1982 from the University of Catania and later specialized in Hygiene and Preventive Medicine in 2005 at the University of Palermo. In 2011, he obtained a second specialization in Dermatology and Venereology from the University of Genoa. During his training, he earned additional qualifications studying abroad, including a master's degree in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene at the Royal College of Physicians in London in 1990 and a diploma in Dermatological Sciences from the University of Wales in Cardiff in 1993.

He further enhanced his knowledge through an intensive course on Venereal Diseases and AIDS at the British Postgraduate Medical Federation in London in 1990, as well as a specialized training course on leprosy in India in 1985 at the Schieffelin Leprosy Research and Training Center.

Dr. Noto has worked both in Italy and abroad. Since 2011, he has been a dermatologist at the National Reference Center for Hansen's Disease within the complex Dermatology Social Unit in Genoa. He also coordinated projects in developing countries from 1999 to 2005 for the training and continuous education of healthcare personnel. For over ten years, he has served as a medical consultant in Mozambique and Zimbabwe, as a project coordinator in Rwanda, and as the project head in Guinea-Bissau for the National Leprosy and Tuberculosis Program. He volunteered in Zimbabwe and Cape Verde for the National Leprosy Control Program promoted by the Ministry of Health. From 2008 to 2013, he served as vice president of the International Leprosy Association and previously founded and managed the Leprosy mailing list in 2001.
