Riccardo Pirovano
Biography
Dr. Riccardo Pirovano is a surgeon at the General and Oncological Surgery Unit of Policlinico San Pietro.
He graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Milano Bicocca in 2006 and obtained his specialization in General Surgery in 2013.
Dr. Pirovano began his career at Policlinico San Pietro in 2009, where he currently serves as a surgical assistant with the qualification of shift lead surgeon in the emergency department and is the coordinator of the coloproctology outpatient clinic.
Over the years, he has gained professional skills in operating room activities, participating in elective and emergency surgical procedures as the primary operator or assistant. He has developed technical expertise in laparoscopic and traditional gastroenteric surgery and has also focused on advanced coloproctological procedures, such as Stapled Transanal Rectal Resection (STARR) and Pelvic Organ Prolapse Suspension (POPS).
Additionally, he has experience as an operational surgical guard, conducting shifts in surgical emergency and outpatient care. He has performed approximately 3,000 surgical interventions as the primary operator, assistant, or third operator.
Dr. Pirovano holds several certifications, including:
- ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support): obtained from AIMS Academy, Niguarda Hospital, Milan (June 21, 2010).
- BLSD (Basic Life Support and Defibrillation): certified by the Italian Resuscitation Council (May 18, 2015).
- MUSEC (Modular Ultrasound ESTES Course): EFAST module + US in Emergency Dept. module (Ponte San Pietro, February 2019).
He is the author of numerous scientific articles published in national and international journals.
